Police have identified two people involved in Friday's deadly accident in Lehigh Township.

The driver of a vehicle that collided with a motorcycle late Friday in Lehigh Township and the passenger riding on the bike both have been identified.

Township police provided more details on what led to the deadly crash at 10:37 p.m. at Cherryville Road and Locust Drive.

Michael Mathesz, 62, of Northampton Borough, was driving a Chevy Equinox south on Locust Drive while the driver of the Harley Davidson was headed west on Cherryville Road. As Mathesz approached the intersection, the motorcycle struck the Chevy, according to police.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek. Police are awaiting notification of next of kin before releasing the motorcyclist's name.
